PTRO-Peace Training and Research Organization | Staff Profile

PTRO Managment Team

PTRO's head office is in Kabul where it has a permanent staff of 25 individuals. PTRO also maintains regional offices in Badghis and Helmand, and other provincial offices depending on current projects, so to date staff has been as large as 80 individuals nationwide. These staff members include experienced researchers and trainers, programme and provincial research managers, and all support staff, including research assistants, drivers, guards, cooks and local facilitators. The staff roles and breakdown are consistent with PTRO's methods of accessing and working in remote and/or high risk areas of Afghanistan in both its training and research oriented projects.

Mirwais Wardak

Mirwais Wardak has almost 15 years experience managing peacebuilding, community development, human rights, advocacy and peace education programmes across Afghanistan and Pakistan. This experience encompasses being Managing Director for two national peacebuilding NGOs. Mirwais represents PTRO in numerous national and international forums, overseeing all PTRO programmes and making sure that Afghan civil society is represented in national decision-making fora. Mirwais received his MA in Post-War Recovery Studies from the Post-War Reconstruction and Development Unit at the University of York, UK.

 


Anas Kakar

Anas Kakar is the current Deputy Director and head of the Peace Building Programme for Peace Training and Research Organisation (PTRO). In this role he is integral to the design, implementation and management of all Peace Building, conflict resolution and governance training programmes carried out by the Organisation, where he continues to also work as a Senior Trainer. Mr. Kakar has almost a decade of experience designing and implementing conflict management, human rights and PeaceBuilding initiatives across Afghanistan; this includes providing Training of Trainers. He is also one of the key developers of PTRO’s Good Governance training programmes. He graduated from the People’s Friendship University of Russia.

Salahuddin Darwish is one of PTRO's most experienced researchers and trainers, and has played a key role in ensuring the quality of field work as well as the safety of staff and researchers in the field. Originally from Wardak province, in 2003 Salahuddin graduated from Kabul University’s Faculty of Law in Political Science with a focus on international relations. He has almost 10 years’ experience in research and development programming, training and project implementation.

Peacebuilding Manager and Senior Trainer

Abdul Khalid Raufi has nearly 15 years experience working with the aid community in community mobilization. He also has 6 years experience working with the Afghan Government on literacy programs. He worked as trainer with AREA and SDO for 7 years and before joining PTRO worked as project manager with CPAU.
